A comprehensive source of information on LTI is http://www.imsglobal.org/lti/index.html
Yellowdig needs only a subset of LTI parameters for a one-way hand-off.
Beyond the first (and only) hand-off interaction where specifically the user's
- Source of the hand-off (Course-name)
- Role (student/instructor/TA)
are supplied to Yellowdig, Yellowdig in turn never needs to query back the source system for any more information. Which also means that only a small subset of LTI being implemented in the source system works well for us.
When gradebook integration is enabled, Yellowdig uses LTI to push Yellowdig points into the LMS gradebook. You can learn about Gradebook integration here.
