How to LTI-create your Yellowdig Community and connect it to your Blackboard Gradebook
1.Request your LMS Key and Secret from a Network Administrator who belongs to your Network. If you do not know who to contact, please reach out to support@yellowdig.com. Do not accept Keys and Secrets from Administrators who do not belong to your institutional or departmental Network.
2. In your Course page, click on one of the purple crosses in the main tab (represented by the book symbol). In the drop-down menu, click on Create.
3. On the sidebar which appears on the right-hand of your screen, select Teaching tools with LTI connection. These steps are demonstrated in the GIF below. (You may need to zoom in with your browser to see this demonstration clearly.)
4. Assign a new name in the "New LTI Link" field. Then determine whether your link is visible to students. (Note: since the first user to click the link is automatically made the Community Owner, it is important that you click the assignment link and set up your Community before your students have the opportunity to access it.)
5. Enter api.yellowdig.app/launch as the Configuration URL. When you enter the URL, Key and Secret fields will appear. Enter the Key and Secret that you received from your Network Administrator.
6. Determine whether you want Yellowdig to open in a new window (check) or open within Blackboard (uncheck). To accommodate iOS and Safari 13+ users, for whom opening Yellowdig in an iFrame may be impossible, we strongly recommend checking the "open in a new window" box.
7. If you are using Yellowdig to grade your students, check "Create gradebook entry for this item." Then set the points for Yellowdig in line with your grade breakdown. For example, if Yellowdig is worth 10% of your final course grade, and there are 1000 possible points for the course, allocate 100 points to Yellowdig. For more on how grade passback works, see the Knowledge Base article.
8. Before X-ing out, click the Save button.
9. Click the Assignment link that you've just created, which will launch Yellowdig and allow you to start building your Community for the class.
10. If grading is enabled, you and each of your students must launch into Yellowdig through the one graded Assignment link that you created. Be sure to communicate this to your students directly and/or direct them to this help article.
11. Finally, if you are using Yellowdig to assign a grade, make sure Yellowdig points are factored into the overall grade in Blackboard's grading tab.
